Our first project is based at the University of California, Davis. The California-Israel Collaborations in Research Program provides 2-year seed grants to groups of researchers from Israel and California to initiate long-term research collaborations. We fund research in the mathematical and physical sciences, biological sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. The program was initiated in 2016 and now has a track record of enviable accomplishments. Our seed grants have allowed new teams of collaborating scientists to secure substantial follow-on funding, with excellent returns on investment (for each dollar awarded in our seed grants, our investigators have secured more than $16 in follow-on funding). Our researchers are training the next generation of researchers and generating many publications appearing in peer-reviewed journals. Starting in 2025, our seed grants will also include a special funding supplements to support the involvement of undergraduate researchers in our supported research projects.
